Green Oaktree Partners
GOP Capital — Private Equity & Venture Capital

Growth capital and operational expertise — deployed together.

GOP Capital is the Firm's dedicated private capital deployment arm. We invest ₦5M to ₦1B per transaction into high-conviction businesses screened through our proprietary 3M Framework, entering as operational partners committed to building enduring institutions — not merely financial backers.

Six high-conviction sectors

Where we invest and why.

Our sector selection is the product of 25+ years in African growth markets. We invest where structural market tailwinds, acute operational gaps, and identifiable management talent create a repeatable pathway to exceptional risk-adjusted returns.

  • Agriculture & AgroTech

Agriculture accounts for over 25% of Nigeria's GDP yet remains severely under-capitalised. We invest in businesses modernising the agri-value chain — precision farming, cold chain logistics, agri-fintech, and agricultural processing.

Focus: Precision farming, agri-fintech, cold chain, food processing, agri-logistics, input supply chains

  • Information & Communication Technology

Africa's technology sector is experiencing the fastest growth trajectory of any region globally. We target capital-efficient technology businesses solving structural African problems — not imported solutions without local calibration.

Focus: FinTech, EduTech, HealthTech, enterprise SaaS, e-commerce infrastructure, digital payments, cybersecurity

  • Healthcare & Pharmaceutical

The formalisation of healthcare delivery in Nigeria alone represents a ₦80 Trillion+ market opportunity over the next decade. We invest in private healthcare delivery, pharmaceutical manufacturing, diagnostic services, and health information technology.

Focus: Private hospitals, diagnostics, pharmaceutical distribution, health tech, medical devices, health insurance

  • Manufacturing & FMCG

Nigeria's 220+ million consumer base — young, urban, and increasingly middle-class — is one of the world's most compelling consumer markets. We invest in manufacturers and FMCG companies building local supply chains to serve this demand.

Focus: Consumer goods, food and beverage manufacturing, packaging, industrial manufacturing, import substitution

  • Education

Africa adds 41 million people to its labour force every year, and demand for quality education vastly outpaces public supply. We invest in education businesses combining quality delivery with scalable models.

Focus: K-12 private schools, higher education, professional certification, EdTech platforms, vocational training

  • Real Estate & Infrastructure

Africa's urbanisation rate is the highest in the world. By 2050, over 60% of the continent's population will live in cities, creating multi-decade demand for residential, commercial, and industrial real estate.

Focus: Residential development, commercial real estate, construction, logistics infrastructure, smart city solutions

The 3M Framework

What we underwrite.

Every investment is tested against these six criteria — anchored in our three non-negotiable dimensions of Management, Market, and Mathematics. A business that excels in two but fails in the third will not receive a GOP investment.

Stage & Revenue

Established operating businesses with measurable revenue and a clear path to profitable scale. GOP Capital backs growth, expansion and disciplined recapitalisations — not pre-revenue concepts. Pre-revenue opportunities are considered through GOP Ventures.

Sector Alignment

Strict alignment with one of our six focus industries: Agriculture & AgroTech, ICT, Healthcare & Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing & FMCG, Education, and Real Estate & Infrastructure. We do not invest outside our circle of competence.

Ticket Size

Growth capital of ₦5 Million to ₦1 Billion per transaction. We pursue controlling and significant minority equity positions, structured to maximise governance influence and value creation. Co-investment alongside institutional LPs and DFIs is standard.

Management — M¹

An exceptional, honest, accountable team is non-negotiable. We look for proven domain expertise, a track record of execution under constraint, character and cultural alignment, and genuine openness to governance and external oversight.

Market & Moat — M²

A clearly defined, growing, and defensible market. We assess total addressable market size, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, customer concentration, and proof of product-market fit with identifiable traction.

Mathematics — M³

A credible pathway to measurable returns: existing and evidenced revenue or cash flow, clear unit economics with improving margins, a financial model that survives stress scenarios, and a realistic exit pathway within the investment horizon.

GOP Ventures

Early-stage incubation & pre-seed capital.

GOP Ventures is the Firm’s incubation and early-stage investment platform, designed to capture extraordinary talent that the 3M Framework identifies at the pre-revenue or early-revenue stage. It bridges the gap between vision and readiness for structured private equity investment.

  • Pre-seed and seed capital of ₦1M to ₦25M alongside structured mentorship and operational support
  • 12–24 month incubation delivering financial management, product-market fit validation, systems implementation, and governance establishment
  • Automatic pipeline into GOP Capital upon achieving agreed performance milestones
  • Equity structured as SAFE instruments or convertible notes with defined conversion triggers
Is GOP Ventures right for you?

GOP Ventures is the right entry point if you have an exceptional management team and a clear market mandate, but require foundational capacity-building before a structured PE investment is appropriate.

  • Pre-revenue or early-revenue stage
  • Strong founding team with demonstrable domain expertise
  • Clear product-market hypothesis requiring validation
  • Committed to the 12–24 month incubation programme
Value Creation Model

Investment returns are not found — they are built.

Every company that enters the GOP platform is assessed against a bespoke Value Creation Plan developed in the first 90 days of partnership and updated on a rolling basis throughout the investment lifecycle.

01

Strategic Clarity

Absolute clarity on competitive positioning, target customer profile, product or service roadmap, and the 3-year strategic plan — the single highest-return intervention for many growth-stage businesses.

02

Governance Infrastructure

Institutional-grade governance from the point of investment: properly constituted boards, formal investment committees, audited financials, and documented policies for financial controls, procurement and human capital.

03

Financial Management Systems

Monthly management accounts, rolling 12-month forecasts, KPI dashboards, and variance analysis — transforming every portfolio company from lagging indicators to real-time decision tools within 90 days.

04

Talent Architecture

Executive search support, compensation benchmarking, organisational design, and performance management frameworks that align team incentives with the Value Creation Plan.

05

Network & Relationship Capital

Every GOP portfolio company gains access to the Firm's full network — co-investors, strategic partners, commercial relationships, regulatory contacts, DFI connections, and the broader GOP ecosystem.

06

Exit Readiness

From the moment of investment, we build the documentary, financial, and operational infrastructure to maximise exit value — whether through strategic acquisition, secondary sale, or public listing.

Geographic strategy

Nigeria first. West Africa next. Pan-African by design.

Primary

Nigeria

Africa's largest economy by GDP (approximately ₦763 trillion), most populous nation (220+ million people), and — by the weight of its structural investment gaps — most compelling private capital destination. Our networks, regulatory knowledge, and operational infrastructure provide maximum deployment efficiency here.

Secondary

West Africa

The WAEMU and broader ECOWAS region — Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, and the Francophone West African corridor — offer significant complementarity to our Nigerian portfolio through shared sector exposures, growing regional trade flows, and expanding middle-class consumer bases.

Expansion

East Africa & Pan-African

As GOP Capital grows towards its ₦10 Billion AUM milestone, the Firm will establish a structured East African presence centred on the Nairobi, Kampala, and Dar es Salaam corridor, targeting a genuinely Pan-African mandate by Fund III.
